Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride varnish that strengthens enamel and helps prevent cavities in children and adults.

Dental Sealants

Thin protective coatings on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, where most cavities start.

TMJ & Teeth Grinding

Checks for jaw pain, clicking and worn teeth, with a clear explanation of your options.

Emergency Dentistry

Same-day slots for toothaches, broken teeth and knocked-out teeth, reserved every day.

Need more than a checkup? We also provide Dental Fillings, Root Canal treatment and Periodontal Care for gum disease.

How often should I get a dental checkup and cleaning?

Most patients should see a dentist for a checkup and cleaning every six months. Your dentist may suggest more frequent visits if you have gum disease, a high risk of cavities, or a health condition that affects your mouth. Regular visits find problems early, when treatment is simpler and costs less.

What happens at a checkup and cleaning at NÜVA Smile?

A routine visit follows five steps. We check your benefits when you book, the dentist reviews your health history and examines your teeth and gums, and the hygienist cleans your teeth. You hear what we found and what any treatment costs before anything is scheduled.

01

Book and check benefits.

Call your nearest office or request an appointment online. Give us your plan name and member ID, and we check your benefits free of charge.

02

Bring the essentials.

A photo ID, your dental insurance card (or NJ FamilyCare member ID), a list of your medications, and any earlier dental records.

03

Exam and X-rays.

The dentist checks your teeth, gums, bite and jaw. X-rays are taken only when they are needed.

04

Professional cleaning.

The hygienist removes plaque and tartar, polishes your teeth, and may apply fluoride.

05

Clear answers and costs.

You hear the findings and the expected cost of any treatment, then book your next checkup.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

Call your nearest NÜVA Smile office. Every office reserves same-day emergency slots, and walk-ins are welcome, but calling ahead, even from the car, cuts your wait.

Go to the emergency room first if you have trouble breathing or swallowing, facial swelling with a fever, or a suspected jaw fracture.

General dentistry FAQs

Most adults and children should have a checkup and cleaning every six months. If you have gum disease, a high risk of cavities, or a condition such as diabetes, your dentist may suggest visits every three or four months.

Yes. All NÜVA Smile offices welcome new patients. Call your nearest office or request an appointment online, and we check your insurance benefits before your first visit.

A routine cleaning usually does not hurt. You may feel some pressure or scraping, and sensitive spots can feel tender. Tell the hygienist if anything is uncomfortable, so they can adjust and go more gently.

Many adults benefit from fluoride, especially if they get cavities often, have dry mouth, receding gums or sensitive teeth. Your dentist will tell you at your checkup whether a fluoride treatment would help you.

Yes. At your exam the dentist checks for worn teeth, jaw clicking and muscle tension, which are common signs of grinding or a TMJ problem, and explains your treatment options before anything is scheduled.

You can still be seen. You receive a clear cost estimate before any treatment, and you can join the NÜVA Solutions Membership Club or use financing through CareCredit, Alphaeon, Proceed Finance or Sunbit.
