Working out what your dental plan actually covers should not be harder than the treatment itself. See which plans we accept across our New Jersey offices, what each typically covers, and how to check your own benefits before you sit in the chair.

NÜVA Smile works with most major dental insurance plans across our New Jersey offices. Coverage can vary by office, so each page below shows exactly which of our locations participate. Choose your plan to see how coverage works:
Free or low-cost coverage for qualifying NJ residents of any age.
NJ’s largest insurer — commercial, Medicaid and Medicare plans work differently.
Commercial, federal and TRICARE military dental plans.
Look at your insurance card. The insurer’s name is usually top left, and your member ID is the long number under your name. Two things to check:
That is a NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid) plan, not a commercial Horizon plan. Start with our NJ FamilyCare page.
That is Aetna’s New Jersey Medicaid plan, not a commercial Aetna plan. Same page applies.
If you are still unsure, call us with the card in your hand. Our team reads these every day and will work it out with you in a couple of minutes.
You do not have to work this out on your own.
Give us your plan name, member ID and date of birth. We run a benefits check with your insurer directly.
You get your remaining annual maximum, deductible status, and what your plan is likely to pay.
No treatment is booked before you know where you stand.
A benefits check is not a guarantee of payment. Final coverage is determined by your insurer at the time of service.
Two items matter most; the rest help us plan your care.
Bring the medical card too. Unlike many dental practices, NÜVA Smile bills medical insurance for treatments that qualify, which can lower what you pay out of pocket on procedures like oral surgery.
Being upfront about this saves everyone a conversation later. Most plans exclude or heavily limit:
None of these mean you cannot have the treatment. They mean we plan the timing and payment with you rather than surprising you at checkout. CareCredit and in-house financing are available for patients who qualify.
Most dental plans run on a calendar year. Whatever your plan has not paid out by 31 December does not carry over — it starts again from zero in January. If you have already met your deductible this year, treatment completed before the year ends may cost you less out of pocket than the same treatment in January.
This matters most for treatment that takes more than one visit:
If you are considering any of these, book your consultation now so your treatment plan and benefits check are done while this year’s benefits are still available.
Note: NJ FamilyCare and Medicaid do not work on a calendar-year annual maximum in the same way. If that is your coverage, see our NJ FamilyCare page instead.
You still have options. NÜVA Smile offers the NÜVA Solutions Membership Club for uninsured patients, with plans for both adults and children, plus CareCredit and in-house financing for patients who qualify. Ask about them at your free consultation — the consultation is free whether you are insured or not.
